Worked with a collaborative team under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst providing and implementing individualized ABA(Applied Behavior Analysis) treatment for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Intellectual Developmental Disabilities. Specifically, assigned to the Children’s Center for Autism, worked predominately with children aged 2-5. However, on occasion, was given the opportunity to gain some experience with older children from ages 6-18. As a BT you are working directly in a one-on-one setting and small group settings. The sole purpose of this training was to help each child learn positive and desirable behaviors that would benefit them in future social settings. In particular, the goal set for each child was to acquire social, communication, and vocational skills with the ability to help themselves, all the while decreasing negative behavior. This position required a large capacity of patience, consistency, persistence, and discipline. In addition, working in this particular field, it is/was critical to possess strong time-management, problem-solving, and communication skills while maintaining a positive attitude. Show less
