  During my time at All-Care Pharmacy (now known as AVRIO Pharmacy), I had the opportunity to work with their compounding and specialty departments. My responsibilities were as follows;Compounding:Compounded patient-specific bio-identical hormone replacement topical creams; completed quality assurance and accuracy checks for various compounded formulations and newly created formulas. Created standard operating procedures for implementation in the lab and medication information leaflets to be distributed with each compounded product dispensed.Specialty:Transcribed and submitted prior authorizations, letters of medical necessity and appeal drafts to insurance companies for redetermination; communicated with healthcare professionals and insurance representatives regarding redetermination status. Conducted disease state topic discussions with pharmacy colleagues and shadowed the marketing department as they visited numerous medical offices for product promotion.

  During my career at Kaiser, I had the opportunity to work in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. My responsibilities are highlighted below; Inpatient:Collected data regarding the length of time each technician took to complete daily tasks. The results of this project served to enhance the organizational workflow of the pharmacy to further improve patient care.Outpatient:Advocated for patient care and safety via the consultation of all prescription medications, as well as, recommendations regarding OTC products and lifestyle changes. Collaborated closely with various healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy changes and appropriateness of therapy. Aided the pharmacist with monthly controlled inventory count and investigated any discrepancies identified. Applied the Outpatient Clinical Information Summary (OCIS) to identify patient's with suboptimal adherence and used this to prompt a discussion during consult. Input, dispensed and compounded new and existing prescriptions orders.
