  Facilitated and supported the operations of all aspects of the K-12 Program Areas Section in the Division of K-12 Standards, Curriculum, and Instruction at the NC Department of Public Instruction. Until May 2017, I also continued my previous responsibilities as a Consultant for Arts Education (with specific responsibilities in Dance and Music) and Liaison to the A+ Schools Program. K-12 Program Areas includes: Arts Education (Dance, Music, Theatre Arts, Visual Arts); English as a Second Language/Title III; Comprehensive School Counseling and Guidance Standards; and World Languages. Each of these diverse areas has one or more consultant/staff who provides leadership, support, and guidance (including the fulfillment of state and federal policy and legislative requirements) to all aspects of that particular area. The K-12 Program Areas staff provides leadership at the local, state, and national levels with internal and external partners on content-specific and cross-collaborative initiatives, projects, and programs. All areas support the education of the whole child through a complete, comprehensive, and well-rounded education that fulfills the State Board of Education mission that, "Every public school student, through access to needed resources and rigor, will graduate ready for post-secondary education and work, prepared to be a globally engaged and productive citizen..” Show less

Responsibilities included conducting observations, meeting with teachers, providing training, and identifying strengths and areas for growth for each school.
