Provide care and give emotional support to acute/chronically ill surgical-trauma patients and their families. When assigned to be the trauma nurse during a given shift, will respond to the emergency department for trauma alerts, receive trauma patient with the ER nurse, provide necessary interventions, monitor patient closely (staying with patient at all times), and help settle patient after transportation to the surgical intensive care unit.
