Jan 2013 - Aug 2016
o Principal Researcher in a collaboration with Biogen Idec examining the meninges and the choroid plexus from diseased and healthy human archival brains for the presence of JC Virus (JCV).o Discovery of JCV-infected cells in the meninges and choroid plexus of a fatal case of JCV meningitis.o Successfully developed and optimized two to five colors multiplex immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence to simultaneously examine JCV proteins, brain cells phenotypes, MHC Class I expression and immune cells.o Collaborated with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) specialists from the Mayo Clinic at Rochester in a research on the brain of a unique, atypical patient who died of both Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML) and MS. Successfully characterized myelin proteins losses and inflammatory infiltrates in separate and combined PML and MS lesions.o Evaluation and validation of customs JCV Agno protein and T antigen antibodies for use on human archival brains.
