      Key Roles and Responsibilities: I am responsible for providing support and guidance in the area of national health system strengthening for primary healthcare, digital health and community health through advising the governments of Mali and Ivory Coast as well as other global health organizations in Francophone West Africa in the design, development and deployment of high impact interventions to achieve Universal Health Coverage. • In Mali I am leading a team of technical advisors that are supporting the reform of primary health care that encompasses a scale up of supervision for 3,000 community health workers and capacity strengthening of 100 primary care centers. With an estimated reach of 4.5-6 million people. This includes the use of digital tools as job aid as well as facilitating data collection. • In Ivory Coast I am advising the government on the adaptation and scale up of supervision of 11,500 community health workers to serve 24 million people as well as introducing the digital tool for their supervision. In these efforts I am also liaising with institutions like World Bank, Global Fund, USAID, UNICEF and WHO on advocacy, policy change and of health reforms/interventions as well Med tech organizations like Medic Mobile for country level implementation .       Main Responsibilities: Responsible of co-managing on day to day basis an annual budget worth of 1.5-2 millions US Dollars. -Building and maintains relationships with our district partners.Role Details: I am leading health system strengthening efforts in Burera Districts in the northern province of Rwanda and supporting the implementation of the first cancer center in rural Africa at Butaro district hospital. In my role I am co-leading impact evaluation studies on Neonatology and Non Communicable Disease treatment interventions in Kayonza and Kirehe districts located the eastern province of Rwanda. I am also working on a 5 year multi country study on the costing of a total district health strengthening system interventions that is funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation under the Population Health Impact and Training (PHIT).In this same role, my team and I have been able to fundraise for cheap drugs purchase from Glaxxo Smith Kline and Roche both of which are pharmaceutical companies of international reach; through this support we have been able to get medication for breast and cervical cancers as well as leukemia. Since the cancer center in Butaro hospital is meant to provide a comprehensive package free of charge its operational cost is around 1 million US dollars; we have been able to advocate for more support through reports and descriptive studies publications. The Jeff Gordon Foundation has been generous enough to commit 900,000 US dollars every year for the operational cost of the cancer center. Show less

Role Details: I have worked in resource constrained settings such as a refugee camp in the position of a medical coordinator I was the only medical doctor providing care on daily basis to a population of 14,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Among others my responsibilities included: -Developing the program and supervising community health education and traditional birth assistance -Plan, supervise and evaluate HIV surveillance and primary health care services provided to the refugees -Establishing strategies for efficient health activities and its application in line with UNHCR standards -Designing and analyzing monthly, quarterly and annual reports according to the UNHCR and BPRM guidelines -Supervising and controlling utilization of all health resources including drugs and medical equipments -Coordinating and advising Health Education, Family planning, Nutritional, VCT/PMTCT and GBV programs to ensure that they are running smoothly. During my tenure in that camp where I was working for the American refugee Committee, in collaboration with other agencies I was able to maintain the camp without any major outbreak, maximize the under 5 children immunization at 90% and reduce acute severe malnutrition prevalence to 2 % from 15%.
