I live on a small island in the Baltic Sea, the size of Manhattan but with only 250 inhabitants. I work with long-term planning on islands and in municipalities, and have created a tool to analyze what makes islands habitable - and not. This toll called "Habitability" ("Bobarhet" in Swedish) si now being used i Finland and on Åland, the handbook is at present being translated to Croatian, and there are invitations to use it in Greece, Ireland and in Taiwan. See https://www.abo.fi/en/centre-for-lifelong-learning/habitability/ I think that small is beautiful, I grow my own potatoes and my workplace is where I lay my hat, which often is on ferries, buses and airplanes - a large part of the life of an islander.

    • General Secretary
      • Sep 2008 - Jun 2018

"A general secretary, also known as a first secretary or secretary general, is usually the leader or head of operations for an organization such as a union, association, or church. He/she is generally responsible for conducting or attending higher-profile meetings on behalf of the organization and making decisions regarding the entire organization. This position usually requires significant travel, and many general secretaries take advice and duties from every aspect of the organization. The general secretary will commonly meet with leaders of other organizations to arrange partnerships or other beneficial contracts with them. Quite often, a general secretary is also responsible for overseeing and improving financial relations of her association, as well as maintaining the association’s positive public image. A secretary is generally voted into her position by a committee or sometimes by a union-wide vote and is thus given authority to be the population’s voice." WiseGeek

As a senior advisor at Sweco. I focused my work on social changes derived from the development of infrastructure such as roads, railways, buses, harbours and sea transports. My work included all but the technical aspects of change: social aspects, political decisions, strategy and communication. I worked with the relocation of Kiruna city, a radical sea transport systems change in the Aland archipelago, a collaboration on energy issues between small European islands, a new railroad through Stockholm and an airport in the Scandinavian mountains.
