  - Developed custom Electron configurations to reduce technical debt for the current electron file structure. Allowing the team to call Node APIs from the frontend - Led the migration from Electron Webpack v3 to Webpack v5 as well as from React 16 to React 18. Learned that migrating to major version updates can quickly become a tall but reasonable task - Restructured the analytical SQL database by refactoring scripts to build the database, allowing for persistence of data over sessions, and ensuring ACID compliance - Eliminated nearly 60 deprecated dependencies (two years old) by evaluating the most critically deprecated dependencies and refactoring the codebase appropriately. - Chose Node.js as a server-side JavaScript runtime and deployed the application with Electron to prioritize dev usability and efficiency with Docker, as these two technologies share web dev technologies making it familiar to other developers - Utilized Redux with React (Hooks, Router) to ensure reusability, DRY principles, flexible state, store management, and maintainability as the application’s features and views multiplied. - Rewrote over 10 server API endpoints and changed overall file structure to resolve major rendering and security issues from the presence of logic and data in non-optimal locations, resulting in a more secure and robust application - Revised the unit and end-to-end test suite away from Enzyme and towards 100% React Testing Library.
