Software Engineering Manager/Design Center Coordinator
-
Aug 2019 - Present
I currently manage a team of Software Engineers creating software tools for the automotive industry. The teams work in an agile environment, mainly programming in Java, and my main tasks involve hiring, developing and coaching team members, evaluating performance, handling personnel topics and maintaining and developing the team processes in line with the Vector process guidelines. I am also involved in the discussions with product managers to assist in defining requirements and to ensure communication is working well with the team. I also act as the Design Center Coordinator for our site in Linköping. These tasks include ensuring all health and safety regulations are met, IT topics are taken care of (with help from IT in our Swedish HQ in Gothenburg) and handling general local workplace topics. Aug 2018 - Aug 2019
Project Management at Actia has included work on several different projects with different levels of involvement. At first I stepped in to help with budget control and change handling in a larger ongoing project for a shorter period before stepping in to manage quality issues in another major project. The quality issue work included organizing tests and analytics to make decisions on how the issues should be solved. Close discussions were held with the manufacturing team to implement changes to ultimately resolve the issues.I was then given a large project to develop a new platform for Actia. The project included all aspects of product development (Hardware/Software design, Test, Certification, Manufacturing etc.).The main work done before leaving the company was setting up the project management plan including all aspects of project management such as scope, quality, schedule, budget, change management, communication management etc. and driving the project through the initial stage gates.During project setup the team started working on architecture and basic functionality. Jan 2014 - Nov 2017
As a project manager at Flex I worked on and lead many types of projects such as production test systems, large design projects and managing smaller product builds will PCB assembly and full product assembly. In 2015 Flex Linköping became a design center so the projects I lead after that became focused on pure design projects. This included writing quotations, assisting BDMs at sales meetings, leading project meetings, project planning, project execution, requirements management and certification management. The design projects have included consumer and industrial products with mechanical (plastics and metal), electronics and software/firmware development. These have been both full product designs as well as smaller phases such as NPI and testing. Customers I have worked with include Valve, Schneider Electric, DeLaval, SKF, Light Flex, ABB and Tracknet.I have also had the pleasure of working with many different Flex sites in Asia, Europe and North America. Outside my normal work as a project manager I was the Planview site lead for Linköping and did a lot of work improving our design organization and working with the FPLC (Flex Product Life Cycle) process.
