Live Wire is radio variety for the attention span challenged. It's music from up-and-coming bands, original comedy, performance and scintillating interviews with writers, filmmakers, comedians and people who think cool thoughts. Hosted by Luke Burbank (Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Too Beautiful to Live), the show is taped in front of a live audience in Portland, Oregon and is aired on public radio stations around the country. Mission Statement: Live Wire's mission is to harness the intimacy of the theater experience and the power of the public airwaves to enliven, inspire, and engage audiences—connecting communities through live music and performance, unpredictable conversation, and original comedy. We believe life is filled with inspired people doing fascinating and sometimes ridiculous things. We want to introduce you to those people. We believe artists are critically important to the world, and should be rewarded for their work. We believe "culturally relevant" and "funny" aren't mutually exclusive. We believe that through the shared experience of live theater and the intimacy of radio, we can tell great stories, introduce new ideas, spark conversations, and hopefully, elicit a belly laugh or two. Live Wire is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization. http://www.livewireradio.org/

Jupiter Studios is a recording studio located in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. Producer Martin Feveyear and I founded the company in 1997 after starting a successful home-based project studio from 1995. Our initial location was in a commercial location in Magnolia, but in 1998 we were able to find a larger space in the former Crow Recording. We have steadily improved the quality of our gear and the functionality of the space. We specialize in an artist-friendly, relaxed atmosphere conducive to creativity. My responsibilities include all aspects of the business management. Martin's considerable production skills and our value proposition keep the studio booked solid year-round. www.jupiterstudios.com

  • Fin Records, LLC
    • Seattle, Washington
    • Founder, Managing Partner
      • Nov 2010 - Dec 2014

Seeing an opportunity in the collapse of the established music industry business model, I founded Fin Records, an independent record company emphasizing broadly diverse music and extraordinarily high product quality. It is apparent that listeners are wanting more of a connection with recording artists than a digital file can provide. Fin specializes in hand-numbered limited editions on colored vinyl, with lyrics, credits, and other content which helps to connect with the artist, exceptional packaging which reflects the artist's vision, and accompanying digital content for portability. Fin's innovative business model is consent based and artist-centric. This allows Fin to align its interests with that of the artists to build sustainable relationships and partner in the creation an enduring body of work. We are currently in the third year of our start up, with more than 50 releases to date. Fin's vinyl, CD and digital releases have steadily garnered critical acclaim, independent and commercial radio airplay, national and international distribution, and increasingly extensive touring and festival appearances for our artists. www.finrecords.com

  • Jester Products, LLC
    • South Park, WA
    • Managing Partner
      • Aug 1999 - Apr 2002

I co-founded this small design and manufacturing company, and oversaw strategic planning, financial, human resources, marketing, sales, and general administration. Jester Products, LLC manufactured all-tube microphone preamps for recording studios (TAB - Funkenwerk V-72), tube splitters for use by guitarists (Hydra), and Oahu guitar amplifiers. Working with designs developed by Oliver Archut, we wound our own custom transformers and built everything by hand. The V-72 is in top recording studios all over the world. The Hyrdra is used by such guitar luminaries as Pearl Jam's Mike McCready. The Oahu amplifier, a resurrection of a classic 1950s Class A brand, is used by Keith Richards, Billy Gibbons, and David Lindley. Oliver Archut and I ended our partnership in 2002, and he now runs the successor company out of Garrison, Kansas, building the same designs as well as several new products. Sadly, Oliver passed away in July of 2014. www.tab-funkenwerk.com

    • Co-Founder, Managing Partner
      • 1982 - 1987

I co-founded Art & Economic Records with singer/songwriter Sandi Miller in 1982. Initially a cooperative with members of the popular Seattle band Attachments, we incorporated in 1984, and continued producing records until 1987. I successfully developed the business plan and raised the necessary capital to fund two 7" singles "Masques" b/w "Waiting for the Girls" (1984) and "A Little Time" b/w "How Do I Feel About You" (1985), a 12" Eponymous EP (1983), and a 12" album (1985). We engaged the production services of Terry Gottlieb (Heart), Rob Perkins (Heart, Temptations, The Heats), and Terry Date (Soundgarden, Sir Mix-a-Lot, Mother Love Bone, Metal Church, Screaming Trees, White Zombie, Pantera, Snoop Dogg). For a time we had a production studio in Ballard, and later in Redmond, and Los Angeles. When Attachments split into two groups in 1985, the company continued operating out of the Los Angeles area until 1987. My duties included daily business management of the production company, songwriting, arrangement, and audio production.
