  I lecture destination management and development and coach students in practical courses where they work on problem solving and product development. I teach tourism research and coach students working on their bachelor thesis. Coordinating internships is also one of my activities. At the moment I am doing research on workation as a bussines transformer for small scale accommodations. I follow tourism trends, millennials and gen z, cocreation with the tourism field, workplace learning, honours programme and research in this. De volgende vakken behoren tot mijn expertise: inleiding tot het toerisme, Toeristisch beleid, toeristisch onderzoek. Daarnaast coördineer ik de stages en bachelorproeven en begeleid studenten tijdens de stage en bachelorproef. Tevens ondersteun ik studenten in praktijkgerichte vakken en begeleid ik hen in het uitvoeren van praktijkgerichte cases en opdrachten.   As a researcher I am associated with PXL Research / Innovative Entrepreneurship. From the end of January 2016 until the end of October 2017, I worked on a research project in which a digital professionalisation scan for small-scale lodgings was developed. After filling out the scan, a report and professionalisation trajectory was drawn up for the accommodation owner. After this, I conducted research into wine tourism in Limburg (Belgium). From 2019 to 2020, I investigated to what extent Flemish accommodations are future-proof for the generations of millennials and Gen Z. A project in cooperation with Tourism Flanders. Currently, I am conducting research on workation: in what way can workation be a business transformer for Flemish accommodations? A project in cooperation with HORECA Vlaanderen. My research themes are small-scale tourism accommodation, millennials, gen Z, innovation. I was also involved in the development of an honours programme at PXL University of Applied Sciences and coordinate this programme within the Tourism and Recreation Management programme. We are currently working on a new learning programme, workplace (vocational) learning. The first students have started and next year this programme will be fully implemented. Show less

In 2008, together with a study bureau, I drew up a strategic tourism action plan for the Limburgse Kempen and annual action plans based on it: The product lines are further developed into concrete actions, product development and communication are elaborated, planning, budget and staff deployment are determined.The preparation of this plan requires consultation at the policy level with aldermen and mayors as well as consultation with the private sector, primarily the hospitality industry.
