Driven and amazingly efficient comes to mind whenever I think about Christal. Managing the workload during CUNY's Public Policy intensive was made infinitely easier because I had the pleasure of being grouped with her. In a short amount of time it became very apparent that she was someone that myself and our group could rely on to help keep us focused in order to get things done. Without a doubt, Christal's commitment to getting our policy brief completed and presented to the Queens Borough president was very obvious. Late nights doing research, brainstorming and editing was her main focus, and she stayed with it until the end, and without her help, it would not have been possible.

Christal was an absolute rock during our time together. Her support, tenacity, and willingness to cooperate and lead the group was essential towards completing our objectives for the SIPP program. In over 4 days, we were able to come up with and write an abstract for a public policy targeting mass incarceration. This was later presented to the Queens Borough Acting President Sharon Lee. Even when the project seemed hopeless, with nearly half of our group missing in action, Christal had stayed on for hours after the end of the day's activities. She worked tirelessly to whip our proposal into something coherent and served as our beacon in the dark. Without Christal, the project would have been a failure. It was an honour to get to work with someone who's had as much dedication and care as Christal had shown during our time together.

I am 1 of 4 students selected to help launch the CUNY Student Food Navigator Program, a digital referral service for any CUNY student who may need help accessing food or other basic necessities. This peer led contact seeks to reduce stigma by building on the organic relationships students have — 50% of students receive information about food resources from their peers. Navigators were selected for their abilities to create connections within CUNY/effective program outreach, as well as communication skills and resourcefulness when working with student peers. We are currently focusing on outreach to all 25 CUNY colleges, spreading awareness through school administrators, social media, student groups, partner organizations, and more! If you are a CUNY student in need of some help, feel free to shoot me a message, I’m here to lend a hand!

Aside from teaching a boxing class, there is nothing I haven't done at The Wat — NYC's premiere Muay Thai school — home to Ajarn Phil Nurse, an undefeated European Muay Thai Champion. - I manage client experience, sometimes from first email to their first championship belt! - I have also transformed our hiring and training system (cutting costs by 50%), planned 15+ events both in and out of house, and designed a progressive disciplinary system to increase staff accountability, which cut down client complaints about staff 80%. - I implemented an email template system, ensuring responses that are faster, more professional, and with more personalized customer service to top it! - With the prospect tracking process that I designed, we've also been able to track client satisfaction and retention. - Currently, I'm brainstorming how we can give our social media a face lift, which means lots of self study on strategy, engagement analytics, and content creation! Overall, I'm most proud that I've learned a proper jab, cross, hook, and teep kick from my growth filled time with The WAT.

The CUNY Food Justice Leadership Fellowship is a rigorous 18 month program which identifies 10-12 upcoming student leaders in the Food Justice sector. Through workshops/panels/lectures from established experts in the field, research like photo voice projects, and collaborative team building, I have become well versed in areas like policy analysis, food insecurity, predatory marketing, non-profit work, racial justice, labor/food laws, and more. • Jul 2020 - Jul 2020

Working in a group of ~30 students that was suddenly cut down to just 10, my team crafted an innovative policy proposal which would drastically reduce recidivism through SUNY education programs. This also works to create a direct diverse pipeline into STEM fields, an area with extreme growth and socioeconomic mobility comparable to law and medicine. Through our team work, research, and late hours, we impressed Interim Queensborough President Sharon Lee in our final proposal and presentation.
