Partaking in a one week work experience at Lovell Ozanne architectural firm working amongst chartered architects and creating a 2D, 3D and rendered home design from a given brief. Skills I have developed in this role: •Software skills – familiarising myself with new architectural softwares, AutoCad, Sketchup and Lumion, to design and draw the layout and specifications of my house design. For example, utilising the offset tool to draw walls more efficiently, drawing out an elevation diagram on AutoCad to determine dimensions of walls, doors and floors and importing 3D Sketchup model into Lumion to add exterior plants & adjust materials of exterior walls, windows and doors. •Mathematical skills & numeracy – designing home in accordance with 1:200 & 1:100 scale. Calculating dimensions of the house - stairs, doors, windows and furniture etc. •Problem solving – overcoming challenges with new computer programmes - familiarising myself with different mouse controls, computer programme software features and architectural terms. Adjusting dimensional, structural or overall design flaws on the house design when needed. •Communication & teamwork - sharing my ideas to the architects and asking questions. Considering their ideas and feedback to me and implementing their suggestions into my house design. Overall being a part of a collaborative work environment. Show less
