Agricultural Education Intern
-
Aug 2015 - May 2017
My unpaid internship at the Franklin County High School consisted of me serving as an agriculture education intern throughout a series of Agricultural Cooperative periods, gaining experience in areas of student, FFA Chapter, and community development, as well as greenhouse management. From 2015-2018, after advisement from my agricultural educators, I have served under my own agriculture teacher, Mr. Watkins, in a variety of subjects including Nursery and Landscape, Mechanics and Technology, Basic Agriculture, General Horticulture, and others, as well as planning periods. In addition to learning a multitude of necessary skills for the teaching profession, such as effective lesson planning, interpersonal skills, classroom management, and material production and distribution, I have gained an improved knowledge of the agriculture industry and the wonderful people in it, and obtained extended opportunities to interact with students in grades K-12. In addition to serving in the high school classroom, I have also worked to build leadership and skills in middle school agricultural students and elementary students through programs such as Franklin County Farm Bureau's Ag in the Classroom, Bootcamp at Lacoda Farms (an agricultural camp for non-rural students enhancing knowledge in livestock, household etiquette, and horticulture), and Franklin County Agriculture Celebration.
