Award-winning Architects based in the heart of Yorkshire. Our core activities include... ...developing innovative solutions to architectural design challenges associated with buildings and the built environment. ...providing architectural design services from concept to completion, design to delivery. We aim to... ...create responsive, sustainable and delightful solutions that stand the test of time and have a positive impact on those who use or experience the buildings and spaces we design. ...exceed the expectations of our clients and those who are influenced by the environments we create. Our experience... ...is not confined to a specific project type. This web portfolio provides a snapshot of the range of our work and illustrates the spread of our design expertise. Particular skills include... ...adding value, maximising development potential and creating successful new environments in challenging historic, sensitive or otherwise tightly constrained circumstances. This is achieved with... ...talented and creative people, advanced tools (BIM, data management) and great clients. The Practice... ...was founded in 1966 by David Crease as York University's Design Unit. The present independent firm of Chartered Architects was established in 1982 and practices from its own premises in the heart of Yorkshire. GWP is a practice of architects, healthcare architects, space planners and interior designers. Founded in 1980 the practice has offices in the UK and the Czech Republic. The experience within the practice extends accross a wide range of building types working in both the public and private sectors, including offices, residential, health care, commercial, leisure, racecourses, universities, museums, industrial and warehouse/distribution.GWP place great importance in developing long term relationships with our clients, and working with them to deliver commercially viable projects that best respond to their requirements. GWP approach all projects with an open mind and never seek to impose pre-conceived ideas on a project. We believe this approach allows the project team to properly explore and identify opportunities to add value throughout the design process. The design of sustainable, low energy buildings is at the centre of our design philosophy, ensuring that the architecture we deliver is sustainable from inception through to completion and beyond. Every opportunity is taken during the design process to deliver creative solutions to developments, which provide economic, social and environmental benefit.GWP are highly successful at securing beneficial planning consents, and are frequently approached to work on schemes of a complex or sensitive nature. GWP design solutions have been recognised by numerous architectural and conservation awards.

Working for a year in an architecture practice taught me many valuable lessons in the running, management, and organisation of a successful office environment. My duties were to assist a qualified architect in every aspect of running an architectural project. This included a wide range of work from organising meetings to issuing final drawings to clients. It educated me in the importance of working efficiently and to a very high, professional, standard.
