I had the pleasure of working with Chrispin White when he was the Director of the Center for the Study and Support of the Community. Early in my career at Castleton University, I learned that Chrispin was the champion of community service work in many forms. When I wanted to begin coaching a Girls on the Run team at the Fair Haven Grade School and involve students as volunteers, Chrispin was 100% supportive, and found grant funding in the first several years to subsidize the families' registration fees for Girls on the Run Vermont. Without that assistance in the beginning, I wouldn't now be a coach with 11 years experience. It was a pleasure to converse with Chrispin about my team members, student volunteers, and great faculty and staff at the grade school, and to learn from his feedback about how to improve the experience for all. When Castleton no longer helped in a monetary way, Chrispin gave me great ideas about fundraising for my team. When I called or e-mailed Chrispin, he was always responsive in a timely and cheerful way. Coming to Vermont from the Midwest and also living about an hour north of Castleton, I did not have community contacts to help students with internship possibilities or other service learning opportunities. But I quickly learned that Chrispin definitely had the knowledge, and was enthusiastic about helping people make contacts in the community. Several of my students over the years benefited by his assistance in coordinating internships. For the students, this service was so valuable; and I was able to learn more about community resources as well. I will miss Chrispin's genuine interest and enthusiasm for many student and faculty endeavors, not the least of which was athletics. Running into Chrispin at a basketball game was always a pleasure because of his sincere interest in "catching up" with people and engaging in good conversation. I have worked in the business world (insurance), in healthcare settings as a physical therapist, and now as a professor; and I have met few people with Chrispin's excellent communications skills and "can-do" attitude. It is with great pleasure that I provide a recommendation for Chrispin White. I have known Chrispin for over fifteen years. During this time, he has proven to be an honest and reliable colleague and a dependable professional. Throughout his years at Castleton University he has related to me with great enthusiasm the various facets of his job, the interaction it brings him with various sectors of society and the opportunity it has given him to support and empower many organizations throughout Rutland County. Chrispin has helped our Restorative Center tremendously as he always goes the extra mile to empower our agency with community supports. The internships and work-study students he has match our organization with over many years has simply been amazing. He certainly is part of our story of success as I am not sure we could provide the resources needed to do our jobs adequately without the added connections he provided us over many years. We could not be more proud to be connected to Chrispin and his outstanding community accomplishments. Chrispin shows a remarkable degree of individual respect, social responsibility and civic loyalty. He interacts very well with people and always provides a pleasant and likable demeanor. I support him in any endeavor he chooses to be involved with. Rick Bjorn Executive Director Rutland County Restorative Justice Center
