2014 - Present
A 4th generation Oaklander and a kitchen table... I took a big leap and started a business to design and manufacture a reusable high-quality scarf that filters pollution, germs, and odors (somebody had to think of it). I’m proud of the result. The locally made Skotti scarf is the best product of its kind, and has sold to customers is 16 countries, earning consistent 5-star reviews. I saw the challenge of creating a scarf that can filter air pollution as an opportunity to apply all of my skills, learn new ones, and do some good by raising awareness and helping people breathe better – with first quality technical clothing. I wanted to create an alternative to those awful face masks that go straight to the landfill. I’m grateful to a dedicated team of very talented people who helped turn a worthwhile idea into a real product. A big thank you to the team and all the people who have lent their support! Pro tip: If you’re a new designer trying to get your foot in the door with a garment contractor (it can be tough), try riding up on a Harley motorcycle in full leathers with a bag full of patterns and clothing accessory samples – it somehow worked for me. People in the business are really cool and supportive, as long as you are well prepared and hold up your end of the deal. Show less
