  As a shift engineering manager I provide supervision for unplanned outages and liaise with production area supervisors and managers to priorities the works. It is then my responsibility to ensure that this information is given to the reactive technicians within the relevant department, of which there are three teams each having mechanical and electrical support along with a site process control team, so that down times on critical plant are kept to a minimum. I also assist with sourcing of spares during the shift and report back to the area engineers with further improvement works to be planned in for the next planned downtime. Part of this role is permit control for employees and contractors, detailing risk assessments and safe working procedures. Ensuring that STOP principles are being followed and complete audits against.   During my employment at Liberty I have been requested to work in the test house area to assist with project works, engineering improvement works, plant reliability improvements by compiling a PPM program and breakdown reaction time. While in the test house area I have implemented the following: Planned maintenance schedule for all plant & equipment on the Stocksbridge site, including scheduled OEM services. Together with the PM’s I have produced risk assessments and method statements for some of the more intrusive tasks that could have an impact on health & safety and environmental permits we operate under. Developed a visual management board which looks at Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness & Cost, which I go through when holding a morning meeting. Weekday’s and weekend plans which are live so that progression of works can be monitored and KPI’s reported against. Installation, relocation and refurbishment of machinery across the Stocksbridge and Rotherham site. During my time in the department the down time has reduced significantly, the reaction time to unplanned outages has improved giving an improved customer support and output has increased from the department.
