Viavi (formerly JDSU/Acterna/TTC)Progressed in responsibility from Sales Engineer to Senior Account Executive to National Account Manager for Cingular Wireless (combined Wireless Operations from SBC, BCS, PacBell, CellularOne, Houston Cellular and more), as well as concurrently Program Manager for BellSouth International and their Data Initiatives, including xDSL, FITL, ATM/FR, FTTC and other tested (sometimes deployed) programs. Wore multiple hats at multiple times, as the industry experienced rapid growth.KEY EXPERIENCE:INTERNATIONAL DEPLOYMENT OF WIRELESS REVENUE ASSURANCE SYSTEM AT BELLSOUTH INTERNATIONAL AND CINGULAR WIRELESSAfter successfully trialing the Acterna AirAudit Remote Call System both at several BellSouth International sites and at multiple Cingular Wireless locations in the US, I coordinated a significant sales effort which included international distributors, direct sales people and my Cingular Account Team. Our focus was to win substantial new business within areas previously untapped in BellSouth, specifically the Revenue Assurance and Call Auditing Departments in BSI HQ plus its subsidiaries in 13 countries and in Cingular Wireless. The cultivation of influential coaches and key adopters within these organizations, while providing top-notch service and support, resulted in crucial placement of GSM, TDMA and CDMA remote call systems in over 90 markets in the US and over 17 switch locations internationally (in Brazil, Chile and Argentina). The solution solved several real-time and time-intensive applications for the Revenue Assurance/Call Auditing groups and, as it became more widely utilized, won additional business within other areas of BellSouth and Cingular, including BSIWS and Switch Acceptance Operations. Viavi (formerly JDSU/Acterna/TTC)KEY EXPERIENCES AND CAREER HIGHLIGHTSADSL TECHNOLOGY FIELD TESTING WITH BELLSOUTH AND ALCATELConducted early testing work in ADSL broadband technology, when issues with technology concerns, link speeds and line conditions were rampant. With Acterna’s partnership with Alcatel, we used a mix of digital “golden modem” technology and analog line impedance/TDR testing to assist BellSouth during initial field trials in Birmingham AL and Gainesville FL. All participants benefited greatly from the results. Acterna completed the design of 2 commercially-viable test sets; Alcaltel gained a very strong market position in ADSL equipment sales; BellSouth launched the FastAccess service with initial speeds and packages proven by the trials. Further partnering successes and strategic sales also resulted for Acterna, as BellSouth explored IFITL, FTTC and several Fast Packet derived technologies.NATIONWIDE DEPLOYMENT OF DS3/DS1/GSM/ATM TEST SYSTEM AT CINGULAR WIRELESSPlayed the instrumental sales role in Acterna’s victory over a major competitor (Spirent/Hekimian) when selected as Cingular Wireless’ sole provider of Centralized Test Systems. Key components included sales of 76 additional test systems, upgrading of 29 other systems, development of Overlay GUI and software integration into multiple circuit database systems. Six Regional Network Operation Centers were provided with the hardware and software to troubleshoot every digital transmission line from DS0 through DS3. Remote test capabilities were also provided for all field engineers. This was a critical win, as it introduced Acterna as a software solutions provider for Cingular and other wireless carriers, expanding its market share from primarily hardware sales. As Account Manager, I parlayed this into additional sales for the implementation of GSM service testing and ATM analysis via optical cross connections. Show less
