Development Team Manager, ScrumMaster and Agile Specialist
-
Dec 2010 - Dec 2016
Development Team Manager for the Cambridge team at Brady PLC having previously had proven success in the position of ScrumMaster for several teams including the Concorde, CTRM and then Aquarius product teams. This role utilised my skills in leadership, mentoring and coaching of software developers using Agile and Scrum techniques alongside complex project dependencies across globally distributed teams. This led to a focus on dramatically improving the coherence and collaboration using Agile/Scrum approaches to change meeting formats, structures and timings within Scrum and Project iterations.Previous roles were taken on to bring to teams detailed knowledge and experience of transitioning to Agile. These included pushing the change to the use of industry standard Continuous Integration tools, code reviews, distributed source control using Git and GitHub and unit testing. This resulted in a move away from manual build processes to fully automated build and deployment environments.Specialising in team and process development has been key with expert skills in advanced retrospectivs to identify and propose improvements both within teams and between teams while ensuring the key buy-in to changes. This soft skill set includes accomplished conflict resolution and management at both team and individual levels.Highly self-motivated approach and the willingness to work extra on personally suggested proposals to improve Agile/Scrum desire and use. This has included self-started projects on the encouragement to use User Stories throughout Brady, online global Improvement Communities to bring teams together and skills analysis and management. This has been done alongside continual personal blogging internally on Agile and Scrum subjects - sharing knowledge throughout the company. An active member of the Brady Social Committee with the goal of taking on this role being to also look at employee motivation outside of project/team related scenarios. Accountability for the operation of the website warranted knowledge of the right hardware and platforms to use to meet the required expectations for performance and scalability. Show less
