I joined shortly after the company was formed and spent two years leading the engineering team as we built and evolved our product. I ensured our technology strategy, software architecture and design was capable of accommodating regular and sometimes dramatic changes to the product vision - and steered the company and team through multiple iterations of both our product and tech stack. I was instrumental in growing the team and ensuring our ways of working adapted to the needs of the company. I was accountable for delivery, and heavily involved in maintaining and tracking our roadmap. This was a highly collaborative effort and our search for product-market fit was driven by a desire for rapid feedback from a small, select group of customers. Our development velocity was occasionally fierce - one of our challenges was to balance pace of delivery with quality of user experience. Most people in the company were hands-on in some capacity, me included. Web UI: Next.js, Tailwind and typescript on Vercel. Public API: GraphQL, Hasura and node.js/typescript (earlier iterations were golang microservices on kubernetes). Postgres and SQL. We used 3rd party providers for authentication, file upload, video support, notifications, etc. Show less

I was embedded full-time with one of AND’s enterprise clients - part of Lloyds Banking Group - and accountable for engineering delivery and quality with a hybrid, agile team of around 50 people. I helped stand up and lead a new delivery unit within the client, working alongside a Product Lead, a Delivery Lead, members of AND’s consulting team and senior leaders in LBG. The team adopted agile ways of working and a more modern tech stack, both of which we adapted for the client’s enterprise setting. Our 4-6 squads - each with product, engineering and delivery specialists - had team members drawn from both LBG and AND. My primary concerns were engineering strategy, and working with squads on the design and delivery of a (largely) new software application, supporting services and enterprise integrations. A little of my time was dedicated to the activities of the Practice Group of AND’s Edinburgh club - supporting the club’s squads in areas such as technology strategy and skill development. Show less

I was a co-founder of Atenta. I brought software and technical expertise, and helped to define a new/proposed SaaS product. The product would support enterprises by accelerating the early stages of their digital transformation. I spent several months scoping and delivering a proof-of-concept product and software platform to support it - a product demo for the purpose of seeking additional funding. In 2019, I spent several months scoping and delivering the first (pre-release) iteration of a software product and the platform that supports it. The product supports enterprises by accelerating the early stages of their digital transformation. This iteration is being presented as a product and technology demonstrator for the purpose of securing additional funding. Show less
