Founder of Getting Clean
-
Jul 2021 - Present
As the founder of Getting Clean I am keen to network and create connections with all related organisations and charities. My motivations lie in supporting and helping vulnerable people with complex needs such as mental illness, homelessness and addiction issues. My current involvement with the volunteers group requires me to maintain healthy relationships with members of the community who require help to over issues associated to addiction.I am passionate about the propagation of values of abstinence and self-development. My past experiences of problematic drug abuse and social issues is what fundamentally drives me to help others achieve what seems impossible. With personal experience of addiction and drug recovery, I aim to empathise with current service users and addicts to help them overcome their barriers to happiness and abstinence. Show less

Jan 2018 - Jun 2019
My involvement with St George’s Crypt started as a service user as the organisation helped me in my journey to become free from active addiction. After successfully completing the recovery program, know as ‘Growing Rooms’, I accessed voluntary work in a variety of roles gravitating towards support work and assisting those experiencing the struggles of addiction and homelessness.Using my past experience and insight to empathise with service users, my work was recognised by senior staff and in January 2018 I became a paid member of staff. I currently take on a wide range of tasks including:• Managing service users and data protection.• Risk assessing and developing support plans.• Assisting vulnerable people and service users with complex needs.• Motivational fitness programs: leading Boxercise classes.• Signposting client needs to other agencies.
