Established by industrial designer Samuel Wilkinson and experienced lighting entrepreneurs Chris Stimson and Bujar Shkodra, BEEM is a new collection of unique high-impact, low-energy light bulbs. Launched at Milan Design Week 2018, the BEEM collection comprises four LED Lamps, all of which have been designed by Wilkinson to combine the best of modern lighting technology with convention-busting contemporary design. The bulbs are designed to be endlessly configurable, and can be positioned in public spaces such as bars and restaurants singly or in combination to create striking lighting effects. Engineered to emit a warm glow rather than a stark glare, Smile and Curli are the first products in BEEM’s range of Samuel’s modern, nuanced and graphic bulb designs. Show less

well-lit was established in early 2013 by Chris Stimson and Bujar Shkodra from Chris's kitchen table in West Yorkshire. After over a decade in the LED lighting industry Chris was detemined to right the wrongs of the industry. We wanted to disrupt the status quo – big companies selling poor quality LED lighting & giving consumers a rotten deal and the new designer brands selling standard products at inflated prices. From installing the filaments and drivers to shaping and cutting of glass, all our LED filament bulbs are handmade by highly-skilled craftspeople. No machine can match their judgement and dexterity, and ensure the precision and finish we’re looking for. Instead of the workers travelling to the factory, we’ve taken the factory to the workers. Our filament bulbs are made in a small town 300km west of Shanghai, and our glass and glass colouring suppliers are less than 5km away, helping reduce our carbon footprint at the source. The workforce is almost exclusively local, so instead of paying for travel and looking for work away from their families in the big towns and city’s, they can pick their kids up from school, go home to cook dinner and sleep in their own beds. With low employee turnover, less time is spent on recruitment and training, and local children can also look forward to well-paid jobs. well-lit keeps a close eye on health and safety, and makes sure the workforce is paid a fair living wage – significantly higher than the average pay in the cities like Shenzhen, and far higher than most local wages. And we don’t just put our money where our mouth is, we make regular trips to China to confirm that standards haven’t slipped. And because we never cut corners on quality, our bulbs really do last as long as we say they do. We’ve sold 70,000 LED Filament lamps in the past year without a single reported failure and we can include royalty in our ever growing list of customers. Show less
