Double Degree Master’s Program in Print & Media Technology

The Double Degree Master’s program in collaboration with Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany is a two year program. A student who joins this course studies one year (two semesters) in the Department of Printing & Media Engineering, MIT Manipal and the second year in Chemnitz University of Germany, for which scholarship is provided by the German Government. On the completion of this course, Manipal University awards M.Tech in Printing & Media Technology and Chemnitz University awards MSc degree in Printing & Media Technology. During this program, students are exposed to advanced technologies of printing, packaging, print finishing, management, colour management, research methodologies and printed electronics, which gives them a competitive edge to work for the industry, academic and research organisations on advanced project requirements. During my Internship at the "Sächsische Walzengravur GmbH"​, I learned more aspects about gravure printing. First of all I tried to understand the differences between offset printing and gravure printing. After that I adopted some skills about ink-formulation. For that I studied the methods to apply a software called "Inkformulation"​. After that I wrote my bachelor thesis in "Computer-aided formulation of printing inks in rotogravure". From February 2010 until December 2011 I did a practical job on an offset printing machine. I was a student leader for the technical support related to printing processes. Therefore I gave my agreement to our prepress group, which was designing the newspaper "Die Novum". I learned a lot of new techniques in prepress, production and postproduction. So I got a broader overview about conventional printing processes.
