Founding Director-Clinical and Operational
-
May 1997 - Jul 2008
In 1997 I, with two fellow founding directors, founded Care Principles Ltd, a provider of specialist hospital inpatient treatment services to people with mental disorders and developmental disabilities. We began with 30 purpose-built beds at our first unit in Suffolk and finished in 2005 with over 350 beds in facilities across England, including specialist residential care provision. In 2007 I exited the company to pursue my career as a specialist clinical psychologist. Over the last few years, I and my family have been helping one of our daughters fight the battle against Anorexia Nervosa, a dangerous and pernicious eating disorder. We have seen that with the right range of treatments and a lot of support from dedicated eating disorder clinicians, recovery is possible. We are passionate about making a contribution to this battle and have dedicated our family, with the support of friends and colleagues, to help other women and men access the specialist inpatient support that is currently lacking in the UK today.
