Chris and I basically grew up together at Dolphin. We worked on the trade desk together for over 10 years: as peers for 6 years, and in 2005 he was promoted to Head Trader, so I then reported in to him until I left Dolphin in 2009. Chris's work ethic, loyalty and commitment to team-work are tremendous; I couldn't have asked for a better manager. Leading from the front comes easily to Chris: he is always the first one in the building and one of the last ones to leave. I found him to be very bright, organized, and he had a refreshing penchant for "talking straight", whether it be up the chain, or to his subordinates. I've found that kind of open and direct communication to be uncommon, but I think it's essential for organizational progress. To say Chris knows financial markets well would be an understatement -- whether it be commodities, equities or FX, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Lastly, I'm very appreciative that Chris took me under his wing, encouraged my development, and was supportive of new ideas. It's without question, that I give Chris Marshall my full recommendation.
Alex Maggi, CFA, CPA, CGMA, CTP
Chris heads the critical activity of executing our core business strategies, an operational function in which client interests can quickly become imperiled by either failure to act or making the wrong move. Overseeing the team that does it requires a leader like Chris, who has: a supreme sense of personal responsibility; the ability to embrace, prioritize, and foster in others the critical principles of risk management; the insight and analytical ability to establish robust business processes with solidly-imbedded risk mitigants, and ensure adherence to them; the determination to become thoroughly familiar with the market landscape; and vigilance with respect to gathering dangers, and the cool head and confidence to respond to them quickly. Attention to detail is no trite attribute in the context of Chris' role, nor is it just a determinant of quality; rather, it is a crucial aspect of risk management he brings to his job every day. Chris ties these critical ingredients together for team deployment with the morale-building loyalty he demonstrates to the company and his people, instilling in them the drive to execute their responsibilities with care and pursue opportunities for improvement. I rely on Chris as a source of knowledge and counsel, and I am grateful for the education he provides to me based on his years of experience and extensive familiarity with the markets. It is my honor and privilege to work with him.
