Edinburgh Social Innovation Forum
-
Sep 2014 - Sep 2014
Landed high-profile speakers for ESIF, including Alan Mahon (Brewgooder) and Ines El-Saui (Enactus Edinburgh). Negotiated to Streamline ESIF costs by sourcing speakers, food and venue for free. My presentation skills were developed here. In 2017, I co-founded and organised a forum of scientists, charities, business leaders and philanthropists called Edinburgh Social Innovation Forum. The aim was simple: exchange ideas and contacts to help each other tackle contemporary social issues. I co-founded the idea with a friend, and we oversaw everything from moderation to marketing, keynote speakers to catering. Evidence if this is on the Eventbrite page and a YouTube video. During the ideation and implementation process for the event, I honed my skills in networking, advertising, venue-hiring, marketing (social media and face-to-face). The skills I have gained through this are transferable to many industries and scenarios, where public relations, events maagemant and building relationships are required. Show less

Expedition Co-lead
-
Aug 2014 - Aug 2014
I co-led this expedition with a friend. our team was 10 young people aged 16-24. I handled the Trans-Continental correspondence and banking necessary to get us there. I gave advice on safety and things to do, having already visited. My team and I harvested maize and learned about how some plants are used to prevent pests in the crop yield in that context. We also helped to build a community building. The humility and work ethic I developed there means I am well equipped to work in a team in challanging circumstances. Additionally, I learned budgeting, banking itinerary-writing and an aptitude for adjusting to new climates and cultures. Show less
