Chris makes projects happen successfully. Full stop. He is one of the most talented and accomplished developers and architects that I have ever encountered. I can always count on Chris to have an approach, know the best practice, and know when the best practice is not the best solution. He is clear, concise, and collaborative. He makes the team better when he is a part of it. I have never had the privilege of working with such a talented contributor and I would gladly work with or for Chris in any role in any organization.

Chris and I worked on a mobile app project with constantly changing client requirements. He was responsible for the middle tier that the mobile app depended on for data and services. Chris did an amazing job of minimizing the change's impact on the app. He quickly implements solid solutions that follow industry best practices, all while being a pleasure to work with. He is a stellar talent that gets the job done.

Epoch is a high-risk Internet Payment Service Provider, that provides clients with the ability to process transactions in over 60 currencies and over 30 forms of payment. I began at Epoch as a Senior Software Engineer and was promoted to Chief Development Officer in January 2014. My role does not only comprise of leading engineering teams and developing software but also acting as a key advisor to various business units. I led the engineering team through the careful process to modernize the legacy platform while assisting the devops, data, and business teams first-hand to resolve complex issues. Some of my accomplishments include: • Leading the development team through careful refactorings of the legacy payment processing system. The first iteration moved payment processing from a JSP/Servlet-based architecture to one based on Apache Wicket. The next iteration modernized this platform and moved it to a Node.js platform running on Docker/Kubernetes in AWS, complete with CI/CD. • Architecting a token-based system for storing credit card data, based on public key infrastucture, to reduce the scope for PCI compliance. • Rewriting the existing fraud analysis engine. This resulted in a 100x performance increase, while also adding the ability to store data for postmortem analysis by the data team. • Integrating with many external credit card and alternative payment processors. • Leading the successful technical pilot of Paypal's reintroduction into high-risk payment processing after they exited the market in the early 2000's. • Architecting and leading the green field development of a new payment processing platform using Wicket, Spring, and Hibernate for BillTech, an Epoch subsidiary that specializes in mainstream processing. The languages used were JavaScript, Java, SQL, PHP, Perl, Ruby, and ActionScript3. Frameworks and technologies consisted of Node.js, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Spring, Tomcat, Hibernate, Lucene, CouchDB, Rails, Flex, Redis, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Show less

Pinnacle Data Systems acquired SunGard Mailing Solutions in 2008. Pinnacle is a firm that provides a total solution for their clients by handling the printing, mailing, and digitizing of millions of financial statements and utility bills every month. Pinnacle retained me as a transition consultant and architect in order to ease the integration of SunGard's systems with Pinnacle. During this time, I provided software development and maintenance on SunGard's existing systems while providing technical oversight and leadership after the acquisition. I worked mainly on Output Director, their main printing and mailing workflow system, and ePresent, the document management portal that allows their client's customers to view statements and pay their bills. The main technologies used were JBoss, Java, Perl, C++, SQL Server, and IIS. Show less

SunGard EXP provided mailing, scanning, and workflow solutions to many top financial institutions, utilities, and insurance companies. I worked as a lead developer and architect on Output Director, an internal rewrite of the company’s mainframe-based infrastructure to a Java web-based, batch-scheduling and rules-based work flow infrastructure, which automates the composition, printing, and mailing of statements with monthly volumes of over twenty-million statements for hundreds of clients. I was a key contributor in the development of ePresent, a large-scale C++ enterprise document management system utilized by many publicly-traded companies and financial institutions as a back-end for web-based statement and document presentation to clients. I also designed and wrote a number of applications around HP's Exstream Dialogue products including a transparent versioning system similar to Subversion and a continuous packaging/deployment system for Dialogue Anywhere applications. I worked heavily in a myriad of languages: Java, C/C++, Perl, C#, ASP.NET, T-SQL, and Classic ASP. Our stack was a diverse mix of platforms and frameworks: COM+, Hibernate, JBoss, WebSphere, WebLogic, IIS, and SQL Server. Show less

Cyber Operations specialized in security software for government contractors and embedded advertising solutions for marketers. During my time at at Cyber Operations, I was challenged with coming up with novel solutions to embed fingerprint sensors, smart cards, motion detectors, and a slew of off-the-shelf exotic hardware. At the time, there was nothing on the market that could provide centralized two-factor biometric physical access control. I was coding for a mix of Windows and Linux, targeting the x86 and ARM9 platforms, exclusively in C/C++. Show less
