Developing processes and procedural documentation to manage the delivery of interstate language examinations for students studying the WACE in Western Australian and overseas schools. My role requires me to liaise with the equivalent authorities in New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria and manage the collection and recording processes for data required from interstate assessment bodies. I coordinate information for schools and candidates, supervisors, oral examiners and other relevant bodies. I also timetable the WA based students for telephone and video conference interviews with examiners based in the eastern states. Individual timetables for each student are developed and venues are booked for each tranche of oral assessments. I also develop and implement procedures for ensuring the integrity of the database for the processing of interstate language examinations. This involves establishing checking protocols for the Authority’s Student Information Records System (SIRS), as well as ensuring there is appropriate interface with the equivalent records systems used in the other three states. I am also required to review examination materials and processes to improve efficiency of the examinations; as well as the recent Externally Set Tasks (ESTs) completed by all non-ATAR WACE students completing Year 12 this year.

Providing quality assurance by employing my knowledge of English language usage and understanding of grammatical conventions; as well as the stylistic conventions used in government departments. Working with the Standards Section, by assisting with selection, ranking, re-formatting and providing quality control of web-based exemplars of standards. This work has involved liaising closely with a range of course officers and classroom practitioners in ensuring the exemplars and the associated annotations are presented in the highest quality format. This has required the shaping of annotations into concise plain English and ensuring the comments are appropriate for the exemplar and the standard of work they describe. This work also involves monitoring that all copyright permissions are appropriate and current; and visual examples and images are presented as clearly as possible. The other aspect of that role involved working with expert members of writing groups in the initial preparation and later providing quality assurance of items for the on-line literacy assessments and numeracy multiple-choice test items. This initially required the location of suitable source material for use in the tests appropriate for assessing the Australian Core Skills Framework and the development of draft items. Once the OLNA tests were operationalI worked test writers and stakeholders, to provide quality assurance for the tests, in terms of test validity and reliability requirements; and accessibility for all students, including students with disabilities.
