Major General Scott Jackson

Servant Leader, example for others, compassionate, AND passionate- all synonyms for Chris Gunn. Chris and I had the honor of leading the Army's first Security Force Assistance Brigade in 2017. It was effectively a military 'start-up' with all the associated organizational challenges. Daily, Chris showed the long term vision to set the conditions for enduring health of the organization- focusing on standards and culture- while always meeting the near term requirements to meet mission today and survive as an organization. Absolutely the right guy for the challenges faced as we built capability and employed that capability in Afghanistan in less then a year. With Chris you get a tireless, loyal, all-in team-mate.

I am writing to highly recommend Command Sergeant Major Chris Gunn, who is retiring from the Army after a distinguished career, for any civilian leadership or management position. I have had the privilege of observing his leadership skills and professionalism firsthand, and I can say without hesitation that he would make a valuable addition to any organization. During his time in the army, CSM Gunn demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities, managing teams of soldiers in complex and high-pressure situations. He was responsible for the training and development of personnel, and he always led by example, setting the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and dedication. He was also skilled at analyzing and solving problems, and he was often called upon to provide guidance and advice to senior leaders. What sets CSM Gunn apart from other leaders, is his ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. He is a great listener and takes the time to understand others' perspectives, which helps him build strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect. He is also a strategic thinker, capable of seeing the big picture while still paying attention to the details. In addition to his leadership abilities, CSM Gunn is a consummate professional, always conducting himself with the utmost integrity and ethical standards. He is a quick learner and adapts easily to new environments, which I believe would serve him well in any civilian role. In conclusion, I highly recommend Command Sergeant Major Chris Gunn for any leadership or management position. He is a skilled and experienced leader, a strategic thinker, an excellent communicator, and a person of integrity and character. Any organization would be fortunate to have him on their team. Sincerely, D. Winston Rich
