I want to share my experience working with Chris as one of his stakeholder partners for the Decarbonisation Academy at Brighton Metropolitan college. I have had the privilege of partnering with this exceptional professional on an innovative retrofitting project, and I can attest to their dedication to driving innovation and delivering meaningful results. Their work in developing the new green trading courses in retrofitting is commendable, as they are equipping learners with the necessary skills to thrive in this emerging sector. As the founder of the decarbonisation academy, they are making a significant contribution towards helping communities stay warm while also bridging the skills gap. Their commitment to collaboration is evident in their work, and I can attest to the success of their initiatives as a result of this approach. I am confident that their ambitious mindset, hands-on experience, and passion for creating opportunities for people will continue to make a significant impact in the retrofitting sector. I wholeheartedly recommend connecting with this outstanding professional to build your network and gain support for the retrofitting sector.

    • Multitrades Lecturer
      • Sep 2010 - Oct 2014

Employed by East Kent College (EKC) as a result of K college being amalgamated with EKC in August 2014. I am based at Folkestone and Dover as a Multitrades and Functional Skills lecturer. My trade background is in wall and floor tiling as I undertook an apprenticeship in Germany in the late 1980’s and became a fully qualified Tiler. I am also capable of and do teach other Multitrades such as bricklaying, plumbing, plastering, painting and most other associated trades. I believe my success with my F/S and Multitrades students can be attributed to my “Out of the box “approach to learning where I embed their F/S either in the workshop or by undertaking interesting projects and so avoid classroom delivery as much as possible. I am very adaptable and see problems as challenges and I believe that I have a natural rapport with my learners, which allows me to understand and adapt to their various learning difficulties, learning styles and needs. ACHIEVEMENTS • During the academic year 2011– 2012 in my dedicated Functional Skills role I achieved 100% success with 79 E3 learners and 87% success with 21 Level 1 learners. For this achievement, I received recognition in the form of an award as Kcollege Most Outstanding Member of Staff 2012. • During the academic year 2012-2013 in my Multiskills/Functional skills role, I achieved 86% Functional Skills success with my E3/L1 and L2 learners. • I have achieved 100% retention and success rates within my construction courses. • I achieved a Grade 2 Ofsted inspection Sept 2013. • Consistent Grade 2 internal observations and Grade 2 previous Ofsted inspection (2012) • Numerous testimonials from Heads of departments, line managers, ALIP’s, F/S coordinators and most importantly my learners. • 100% success rates at South Coast College Hastings with my City and Guilds construction courses Show less

    • Multiskills Lecturer/Partner Coordinator.
      • Sep 2009 - Aug 2010

Originally employed as a variable lecturer, teaching Multi skills, then tasked with running the R2R (Response to Redundancy) and ABG (Area based grant) cohorts for that academic year. My job included liaising with both the local job centre and ABG offices where I would interview the prospective candidates and ascertain their individual needs. Then invite those suitable learners to a taster day where both their aspirations and my knowledge of the construction industry could be used to judge their suitability to undertaking the City and Guilds L1 qualification. It was tasked to me to facilitate having experienced lecturer's in place to teach the various units of the qualification as well as teaching units myself. For that academic year we achieved a 100% success rate for all learners enrolled with many being inspired and motivated enough to actively seek employment in the construction industry and looking at further courses. The R2R groups were predominately 19-50 year olds and the more challenging ABG were 16-18 year olds. Show less
