  Having worked in Jersey's finance industry for 20 years, in 1998 I embarked on a public service career change and switched to the role of gamekeeper at the Jersey Financial Services Commission ("JFSC"). I consider myself to be very fortunate and privileged to have been part of the Island's regulatory authority, from its inception in 1998 through to my departure in 2012.In 1998/99 I was an integral member of a small dedicated team tasked with the responsibility of crafting the supervisory regime for investment businesses. This framework now, largely, forms the basis for the Island's regulatory and supervisory regime.Following the successful implementation the Investment Business (Jersey) Law 1998, I then utilised my newly acquired skills to help bring the Island's trust company sector under the regulatory umbrella.In 2004, whilst employed at the JFSC, I was engaged as an IMF Assessor for the International Monetary Fund's Review of the Financial Sector and Regulation and Supervision in The Bahamas.During my tenure of office at the JFSC I also fulfilled the role of Assistant Registrar of Companies.
