  Assemblyman Chris Brooks was appointed by the Clark County Commission to serve as the Senator for Nevada's Senate Districts 3 in November of 2018, after the sitting Senator resigned. Senator Brooks went on to win a general election for this Senate seat in November of 2020. Senator Brooks served in the 80th and 81st Legislative Sessions where he passed several high profile pieces of legislation addressing decarbonization, wildfire protection, alternative ratemaking, renewable energy portfolio standards, energy storage, transmission, and regional markets. He also served in the 31st, 32nd and 33rd Special Sessions. Senator Brooks served as Chair of Senate Finance, Vice Chair of Senate Growth and Infrastructure, and Chair of the Interim Finance Committee.

  Chris Brooks was responsible for managing VEA’s distributed generation programs and overseeing specialized government contracting related to renewable energy services. His duties also included managing VEA’s legislative affairs efforts, overseeing outside lobbyists and managing the cooperative’s marketing consultants. VEA is a full member of the California ISO and Brooks managed that relationship. As an executive vice president, Brooks served as a member of VEA’s executive team and shared his expertise on all aspects of the cooperative’s business activities.

  As Director of Bombard Renewable Energy, Chris Brooks was responsible for the development, engineering, procurement, or construction of every solar project Bombard had completed. Chris was a Certified Master Electrician, is a NABCEP Certified PV Installer Emeritus, and held a Nevada Occupational Safety Hazard Association (OSHA) PV License. He is a founding member of Solar NV, the Nevada Chapter of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). Chris founded the solar PV training program for the IBEW 357 JATC and served as an instructor for many years. He was also a member of the curriculum development committee for the National JATC.In 2007, then Nevada Senator Dina Titus appointed Chris to the Nevada Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Task Force as the solar representative. In 2008, U.S. Senator Harry Reid appointed him to the Blue Ribbon Panel for Nevada’s Clean Energy Future. In 2009 Chris was awarded the AFL-CIO Contractor of the year and in 2013 Chris was again honored by the AFL-CIO as a Friend of Nevada Working Families. A native Nevadan, Chris has been a Journeyman Wireman for over 17 years and began his career working as an lineman’s apprentice for his family’s company at Nellis AFB.

  Chris Brooks was on the committee that developed curriculum such as text books and testing materials for Solar PV installation training for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and National Electrical Contractor's Association (NECA) Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. This curriculum was used around the country to train IBEW electricians and apprentices to install solar PV systems safely and professionally.
