Chris was an outstanding ICT support officer providing services to the teaching environment and the office area. After some years he worked for both i-solutions (University of Southampton ICT support) and the Science Learning Centre South East (SLC), dividing his time between the two on a priority basis. The centre was equipped with a suite of laptops, desktops and video-conferencing facilities as well as a large range of digital tools for laboratory work (microscopes, dataloggers, cameras etc.). Staff (both office and academic) occasionally needed instruction in the use of software and devices and Chris undertook this task. Each year he instructed the trainee teachers in the use of interactive white boards and supported instructors with courses at venues away from the SLC. Chris was able to supply his extensive skills and knowledge flexibly to meet our changing needs. As a team player Chris was always concerned about the morale and well being of others around him. He was always proactive in ensuring that staff worked in a supportive environment and I found his feedback invaluable. He was a very important and useful member of the team. His own professional development was taken seriously and Chris was working with Microsoft certification in different areas when he left the University and the SLC. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Chris Beddoe for any post in ICT support.
