Club President
-
Sep 2020 - Jun 2021
I was the acting club president and representative for the Urban Planning and Sustainable Development Club at Western Washington University. I attended and leaded weekly club meetings on Microsoft Teams Platform and share numerous events and information with club members. During the club meetings, we talk about our classes, express feelings about current online learning environments and the added stress and emotional toll it contains, as well as preparing to enter the planning field with events like resume workshops. Temporary Inventory Specialist
-
Dec 2020 - Mar 2021
Throughout the day, I assisted with excellent customer service and do various tasks focusing on outside displays, entering new inventory, and cleaning. There is no job I will not do since I am there to be apart of and benefit the overall team. Some of my outside display work includes creating pottery displays. These pots can weigh anywhere between 5 to 60 lbs. The inventory system was lacking extensively since this business was going through a transition of ownership and the new product was on its way. I helped and led the project of getting as much old inventory into the system as possible while also processing the new inventory. Show less

Dec 2020 - Jan 2021
One of the partners for Sustainable Communities Partnership for the 2020-2021 academic year is the Columbia Valley Park and Recreation District (CVPRD) in East Whatcom County. Western Washington University students are supporting the CVPRD in developing a comprehensive park plan and implementing a community engagement campaign. As part of this partnership, I was hired to create multiple visuals of park design options based on community preferences as expressed in the community engagement campaign. These visuals will be included in the final project report(s) and may be used by the CVPRD in the future. Show less

Assist the Methow Valley community Climate Action Task Force in developing a climate action plan for the Methow Valley. Responsibilities will include research, contributing to community engagement and communications, and supporting a community event to share findings from community surveys and emissions studies. My work focused on researching and understanding the effects of poor air conditions, and this research was developed into a report on how to mitigate the hazardous air conditions best. Community Course Project Lead (Natural Hazards and Transportation Project Portion)
-
Sep 2019 - Jun 2020
This project incorporated urban planning principles into a series of planning alternatives to guide the City of Arlington’s Downton Corridor Plan. These include a vision for city center improvements through a community workshop. The visions I helped develop included architectural and built environment character study; use of rights of ways and other public assets for human scale-oriented purposes; evaluation of traffic patterns, street, parking, biking, and pedestrian systems and improvements; enhancement opportunities for improved use and access to public spaces; and alternative recommendations for a city center land use subarea plan as an element of the Arlington Comprehensive Plan. These planning concepts reflect community visions, goals, and urban design principles, including Smart Growth, Sustainable Design / LEED-ND, and other New Urbanism strategies. As one of the leads, I was privileged to work on an underground parking concept with mixed-use development above ground with two other project leads. Show less
