      • Mar 2020 - Mar 2020

It was a great opportunity to gain an insight into foreign policy and national security to gain an understanding of how national disasters and crises are dealt with. The simulation was based around a game called Aftershock and it is aimed at encouraging strategic thinking. In this board game scenario, you will relieve a humanitarian crisis on the fictional island of Carana (based on Haiti), as one of four members in one of the four teams:Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Task Force (HADR-TF)Government of CaranaArmyUN and NGOsOur primary aim is to address the needs of the local population. But you also need to maintain public and political support for your organisation, such as sustaining the relief mission or securing financial support.I worked with other teams while pursuing my own interests. Every decision made had a consequence.
