As FXPAL's CFO, Chikako did an outstanding job to consistently close the monthly financials on time, delivering accurate variance analysis against plan to help the executive team plan and manage company spending. She dedicatedly managed financial compliance risk issues, communicating potential risks to related parties within the organization. And when an issue arose, her response and action to minimize the exposure was to be commended. Chikako consistently demonstrated deep knowledge of federal & state tax regulations, always ensuring timely and compliant payroll processing. She did an outstanding job working on new challenges and responsibilities to improve financial processes such as implementation of 401K data electronic transfer, digital payroll statements and setting up new post-tax 401K benefits. It was a pleasure working with Chikako, collaborating closely with our IT department to plan FXPAL's capital asset expenditure and to establish physical inventory data tracking measures to ensure inventory matches with accounting's information. It's not just Chikako's professional skills that impress me, however. Chikako has always been a joy to work with because of her amazingly positive attitude and dependability. Her thoroughness to get the job done has been notably commendable. I am absolutely confident that Chikako would be a great fit for any high level financial position, bringing to the table the kind of skills and experiences a company looks for in such an applicant, and quickly becoming an invaluable asset to deliver outstanding financial services to company employees or customers.

I am pleased to write a letter of recommendation for Ms. Chikako Konohana. I first met Chikako when I became President (and later President/CEO) of FXPAL,Inc. FXPAL is a Palo Alto research laboratory that performs research and development on behalf of Fuji Xerox, the Japanese arm of the Xerox Corporation. Chikako was in charge of all of our financial management at FXPAL. She managed everything from high-level funding flow between Japan and the USA, salary administration, payments to suppliers, payments for third parties and all financial transactions involving tax reporting (both in California, the USA and Japan). She also managed the investments related to equipment purchases (from consumables to significant long-term assets) and asset management with our parent company. She managed staff that worked on detailed data entry for payments and accounts receivable. She was an important member of FXPAL's management team. Chikako and I worked closely together on weekly and monthly cash-flow issues, but also on long-term strategy for employment, promotion and retention of personnel. She was involved in all aspects of financial contract negotiations with our partners, who ranged from Universities to foreign corporations. In my various positions with organizations before I joined FXPAL, I was always assisted by competent administrative and management staff members. I can say without reservation with Chikako would top my ranking of these people. She is a person who I would take with me to a new employer if that situation should arise. Chikako is extremely honest, open and fair with the people around her. She is not afraid to give her opinion on financial matters and is able to do so in the context of both short-term tactical and long-term strategic issues. She communicates very well, is extremely organized and can effective draw the line between maintaining good social working relationships and maintaining her financial responsibilities. I would heartily recommend her for any position of responsibility. She has, of course, significant experience working with Asian companies, but her experience in California is equally broad. I consider her one of the prime assets of our (former) organization. I am happy to provide addition information via e-mail or telephone. Please use Dick.Bulterman@gmail.com to contact me directly.
