Designed a prototype setup to utilize a bio-waste – rice husk as a cost-effective alternative source of silicon carbide(more than 60%) to provide high thermal and structural strength to a composite material used in space shuttle. Worked under Dr. Bhatnagar on a project that deals with obtaining Silicon carbide whiskers from rice husk and its utilisation in aerospace industry. India has abundant supply of rice husk as it is considered as waste product . Presently we are able to get 40% of whiskers which possess the properties required for making composite for aerospace structures. In this project ,determined a technique that will help us get 60-70% of whiskers from rice husk.Learned about composite materials especially basalt fibers and the techniques used for manufacturing.

Using satellite data, determined the amount of evapotranspiration by estimation of near surface atmospheric emissivity Worked under Dr. Bhaskar on project to calculate the amount of evapotranspiration for the whole India in the time period of 6 months with calculated near surface emissivity using satellite data imagery from INSAT 3D which is required for finding longwave downward radiation .A MATLAB code was made in order to process the data for the whole India .Learned about the remote sensing techniques and the analysis process.
