I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Cheryl McKinney since 2015 when we were both IS leaders for Sutter Health’s Sacramento – Sierra Region. I first witnessed Cheryl’s creative genius and leadership capabilities when Sutter Health was announcing the rollout of an EHR (Electronic Health Record) to physicians and clinicians. Instead of the standard change communication approach with everyone in a large conference room watching a presenter and a slide deck, Cheryl took a completely different approach. She created an engaging and humorous mini play where she used IS team members to portray the original Star Trek characters who demonstrated the transition and capabilities of our new EHR. I was impressed that she was able to create a script, direct the team, coach Analysts into Actors and deliver an extremely well received performance. This resulted in the recruitment of many Change Champions and greater acceptance of the new EHR. I have always been impressed with Cheryl’s facilitation and training skills. She has a warm and engaging personality which makes it easy for participants to follow while Cheryl leads and trains them. Her breadth of knowledge in PROSCI Change Management, ITIL Service Management, ISO9000, Quality Management, EHR (Epic modules) and IS Service leadership makes her a well-rounded instructor. As an unassuming and natural leader, her employees trusted and performed well under her guidance. Cheryl also was a key contributor to the IS Applications Service department and collaborated well with acute and non-acute leadership to ensure operational needs were met. I can unequivocally support Cheryl in her endeavors and know that she would be successful in any position she pursues and be an asset to your organization.
