Key Contributions:• Satellite-collared twenty-five herds of elephants to study their long-term movement patterns and their relationship with environment, anthropogenic and climate variables. This information has been used to guide conservation and management policies to secure the protection of their key habitats, to inform fine-scale spatial conservation planning, and to predict range shifts due climate change.• Conducted various wildlife surveys to assess the presence of high conservation values (HCV), and identified threats in protected areas. The findings from these surveys were advocated to policy makers which successfully led to the protection of these areas from conversion.• Identified high-risk areas for wildlife habitats that have been planned for infrastructure development and provided solutions such as ‘wildlife-friendly’ designs as well as proposed alternatives.

Key Contributions:• Advocated and built public opinion for the protection of critical elephant habitat and corridors which included securing close to 1,500 ha of land outside of protected areas as ecological corridors. These corridors are crucial for the movement of wildlife, habitat connectivity and climate refugia.• Successfully conducted a population survey of elephants which has been used to guide policy decisions and conservation actions for the species.• Facilitated the establishment of landscape-level working groups involving government enforcement agencies and plantation companies to jointly implement mitigation measures for the better management of human-elephant conflict and for continuous movement of elephants throughout these landscapes.
