I worked with Cherno at Choose Love in my capacity as HR Director. He has an excellent ability to understand the operational needs of an organisation and translate those into effective actions. Cherno was always calm, considered and professional, even throughout the most challenging situations, displaying an ability to lead an organisation effectively and empathetically through change. I would highly recommend Cherno as a strategic and operational leader, line manager and mentor!

I have worked with Cherno for over 10 years. His professionalism, attention to detail and commitment to everything he does serves as a model to aspire to for all professionals. There is no question that Cherno has developed our organisation through both his high professional professional standards and, most importantly, his personal values. I have no doubt he will succeed wherever the future takes him. I hope it brings him back to us.

Leading the development and delivery of an Operations Management Strategy which supports the culture and expectation for a modern enabling working environment. This includes the day to day running and smooth operation of 6 buildings in London, as well one regional office in Manchester and, until recently, one international office in The Hague, Netherlands. As well as retaining accountability for all aspects of facilities and contract management, compliance, all knowledge management resources including library and legal research, I also oversee, manage and prepare most departmental budgets, ensuring efficient value for money support functions are maintained. Over the past 6 years significant projects that I have managed include: •Migrating the entire Manchester team from their previous Regus offices to their current location at 3 Hardman Square. This involved moving the team from predominantly fixed cellular offices to a more open plan and agile working environment, that has increased communication and collaboration within the team, whilst also providing them with increased flexibility and a variety of choice settings to work. •Project managed the replacement of the company’s entire phone system from traditional analogue phone lines to the more modern and updated Voice Over IP Cloud based solution. •Introduction of a comprehensive legal archiving system which has been instrumental in aiding Barristers move towards paperless working practices, creating more workspaces and promoting densification. •Devising an accommodation and workplace strategy as part of a long-term plan to consolidate 6 disparate buildings in London into one and reviewing the accommodation requirements with both regional and international offices. In 2020, during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, this saw the Chambers downsize 6 buildings in London to 5, reduce 3 offices in Manchester to 2 and relinquishing the international office in The Hague. •Managed London office refurbishment project in 2016. In my role as a Paralegal within the firms Public Law Department, I was involved in the conduct of complex public law matters such as community care and welfare, court of protection, actions against the police and prison law cases. This involved carrying out a range of tasks which included, taking statements from clients and witnesses, preparing funding applications, and liaising with courts, experts and counsel. Due to the demands of the department, my role often involved responding to urgent requests and tasks to meet tight deadlines, such as the processing of emergency applications for legal aid funding and completing emergency conflict checks on potential new clients. In my previous dual role as Chambers Administrator/Researcher I was involved in assisting the Head of Facilities and Deputy CEO in ensuring that all facets of Chambers’ administration were effective and efficient. I was primarily responsible for overseeing (and further developing) the administrative processes and procedures necessary to deliver an efficient and professional support service to Doughty Street Chambers’ barristers and staffing team. I performed this role whilst also providing legal research services to several of the Chambers’ Barristers on a range of cases which varied from Clinical Negligence, Immigration Extradition, Media and Public Law disputes. As well as assisting with general casework, this role involved drafting skeleton arguments, dealing with correspondence and ensuring compliance with file management. This would additionally consist of database and hard copy research, as well as quantum research on multi-track clinical negligence cases and inquests, including deaths in custody, mental health related deaths and patient deaths.
