Ri Sheng joined the HATS team as an engineering intern in May 2020. Ri Sheng has impressed the team with his resilience, resourcefulness and propensity to learn through his active engagement with the team in this work-from-home internship during the COVID-19 pandemic. When he first joined, Ri Sheng had little experience in shell-scripting and Apify. Along with his learning agility and inquisitiveness, he got up to speed quickly to contribute to purple-hats, a project on accessibility testing. As part of the preparation for A11y Egg Hunt, Ri Sheng became adept with WCAG rules in a short duration with minimal guidance. Ri Sheng was instrumental in developing and launching the purple-hats web application in beta. The purple-hats web application was provided as one of the accessibility tools available for participants to test out during GDS 1st Accessibility Awareness Week. He was also part of the Triage team for A11y Egg Hunt, where he reviewed and scored accessibility bug reports and fix reports. He collaborated well with fellow triage members and contributed actively in identifying inefficiencies and inconsistency in scoring procedures. Ri Sheng was a joy to work with. I wish him well as he returns to his studies and I hope to have the opportunity to collaborate again in the future.
