Employment as a Physician Associate covering the Acute Medical Unit and Ambulatory Care - Full time position usually, but currently working 2 days a week whilst seconded to HEE. Working as part of the medical team carrying out duties including, but not limited to:• History taking, patient examinations, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, requesting and interpreting investigations, patient advice, development of management plans and delivery of treatment including emergency management of medical issues.• Clerking of patients as part of the admissions team based in Ambulatory care.• Extended skills training in lumbar puncture, diagnostic paracentesis and bedside ultrasound as well as ALS certification.Non-clinical roles include:• Rota co-ordinator since August 2018 - managing a rota of 20+ junior medical staff.• SOP and pathways development.• Supervision, mentoring and teaching of both medical and PA students rotating through AMU.• Working closely with the consultant body and directorate managers on non-clinical tasks such as audit, unit improvement, staffing/finance queries and complaints.Other related roles/achievements:• Physician Associate Trust Rep since May 2019 - Escalation of any issues/concerns/queries to the PA management team, attendance and active participation in quarterly governance groups, monthly Junior Doctors committee meetings and MFT representative at the North West PA forum sub-committee. Production of documentation for PA students and current PAs to aid placements/first year of practice. Creation and organisation of a yearly CPD event aimed at PAs working within the North West.• Junior specialty lead for Acute Medicine since April 2020 - A role initially developed to help overcome workforce challenges such as staffing, communication and wellbeing as part of the trust's response to the COVID pandemic.
