Engraver

Engraving uses time management and problem solving to acquire the best possible engraving solution. I run a CNC engraver, a sublimation press, and three different types of lasers all using Corel Draw as their software. QBE uses many materials on these machines, including but not limited to plastics, metals, wood, leather, tape, and glass. We are known for doing industrial tags, but are a normal engraving business as well. Specializing in vinyl lettering, we also make stickers and signs. We are a jack of all trades, and use our problem solving to successfully grow our business.

Material and process are the foundations for my work. The processes I choose act as transitions and reveal the changing nature of the materials, while removing their original implications. I continue to work with most objects based on their fragility and hidden delicacy, changing recognizable materials to establish new insight or relational qualities. Studio Technician
-
Feb 2013 - Jan 2014
As a Studio Technician I maintained the kilns, including unloading and reloading wet and glazed work. I also made all of our glazes, prepared clay for the children's studio, and maintained a clean environment. During off hours technicians were encouraged to explore their personal projects and hone their creative skills to further assist with the education of students. Throwing on the wheel and hand building were essential skills taught. As a Studio Technician I maintained the kilns, including unloading and reloading wet and glazed work. Printshop Technician
-
Jan 2009 - Jan 2012
During my education at Columbia College, I worked in the print shop, where all print types were taught, including screen printing, etching and lithography. I learned about the paint, paper and processes not only for my own interest and education, but also to help students during their studio time. My duties were to maintain the studio during and in between classes as the shop aid.
