During my time here I was placed in the employment law department. I created a brief to council document, drafted emails to clients and conducted various legal research on current issues and recent cases in the employment sector. Sep 2016 - May 2017
As an Academic PAL Leader my role was to provide sessions for a group of first year law students on law issues they did not understand or sessions helping with university skills. This opportunity encouraged me to develop my public speaking skills and helped me review my previous learning. I was based in the Bedminster Branch in the Family and Education Department. Throughout the two week I spent at this firm I attended a variety of case at the Family Law Court while experiencing first-hand negotiations between the solictor and their client. Developed my legal research skills by using Lexis Nexis and Westlaw. I assembled bundles ready for court and I attended a pro bono clinic that the firm runs.
