Currently I am working in an acute setting. My primary role is acting as stroke co-ordinator ensuring the SSNAP targets for stroke are met for the trust. This involves co-ordination of services when a patient comes into A&E with a suspected stroke. Including, possible thrombosis treatment, CT and MRI, dysphagia screen, mobility screen, communication screen etc. When there are no new suspected strokes, I work on the wards as a speech and language therapist involving, observation, assessment, dysphagia screening, target setting and out-coming, liaising with other professional and inputting during discharge planning.
