    • Data and Operations Manager
      • Apr 2022 - Present

After working with 11 vendors and coordinating the logistics of an office move in addition to my regular duties, I was promoted to the Data and Operations Manager. I continue to support all components of grant processes and tracking while managing all donor contributions. As needed, I research and select vendors (utility, software, IT, office cleaning) for CFO/CEO approval, and manage ongoing relationships.I have begun the development of 10-year Data Dashboard, compiling 7 years’ worth of data and zip codes to create a robust initial assessment of YVCF grants. After the first round of analysis, I hosted a 2-part staff presentation for feedback and collaboration and have almost completed a 30+ page internal index of charts, graphs, analyses. and explanations. When YVCF is awarded new grants or acquires fiscally sponsored projects, I create systems for recording staff time, invoicing, expenditures, and reporting. I still happily serve as the de facto technology consult, training colleagues on new equipment and software, with our IT company on speed dial. Show less

I began my career with YVCF by supporting all components of grant processing, making sure to follow IRS requirements. (This included DAF grants, as well as open and rolling discretionary grants.) As donor grant recommendations and grantee applications came in, I performed due diligence on potential grantees and troubleshooted applicant difficulties. I also developed a system of polling for grant approval, increasing efficiency of grant disbursement while decreasing burden on board members. I ensured all grantees received notification of awards and restrictions, if any. Contributions were a small but vital part of my role- I processed all incoming contributions, sent acknowledgement letters and provided any technical support donors needed for online donations. While tracking incoming and outgoing grants, I developed and maintained a system to ensure regular updates on reporting deadlines, contract specifics, and reconciliation of allocated funds. I reorganized all shared files in cloud-based server and implemented quality control procedures to safeguard grant data: we now use file naming conventions. During a review of our Grants Policy, I coordinated a complex document review and produced an executive summary, markup, and final document for BOD approval. One of the many perks of this job, was I became the de facto tech support person and provided training to my colleagues on Microsoft Teams, phone integrations, and accounting software. Even in my new role, I continue striving to remain current with grantmaking (and office) technology so I can provide recommendations for process improvements. Show less

Premier Employee Solutions offered a great opportunity to work full time while I attended grad school full time. I screened potential employees for a variety of manufacturing and production roles (electronics, fruit/vegetable, warehousing). Once a viable candidate was selected, I collected their application, completed I9 onboarding, and processed E-Verify eligibility. I used TempWorks Software to document every step of the way. After creating work schedules to meet the employee and client's needs, I would make site visits to provide training and complete performance evaluations. If an employee was struggling with performance, I would help them troubleshoot any job-impacting factors like transportation. While I enjoyed this position and the skill development it offered, I had to make the difficult decision to move to Washington and be closer to family. Show less

Hogue Winery (as part of Constellation Brands) was where I learned about wine. I completed a harvest there in 2014, and again in 2019 after returning home from Australia. During my first harvest, I operated the centrifuge, performed inoculations, and cleaned tanks. In 2019, I was selected to be the sole operator of a large piece of specialized filtration equipment. While I didn't want to miss out on the occasional digout or transfer, my primary responsibility for the season was to measure and record particle volume at least twice an hour. As Hogue was still learning about the new equipment, I kept all data from the 2019 harvest and created an operation manual with troubleshooting, tips, and tricks, based on grape variety. I was offered a full-time opportunity at the end of both harvests, but in 2014 I transferred to a New Zealand winery within Constellation Brands, and in 2019 I moved to Portland to pursue graduate studies. Previous Harvests Completed 2015 Drylands Winery; Blenheim, New Zealand 2018 Domaine Chandon; Coldstream, VIC Australia 2019 Yering Station; Yering, VIC Australia Other winery experience includes transfers, topping, barrel work, inoculations, additions, racking, forklift loading and unloading, and dump truck operation. I was promoted to develop and maintain a department for services executed under a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) contract and DHS/Medicaid Endorsement. After training the replacement for my previous position, I researched the evolving requirements and restrictions of the new contract and developed relationships with clients and VR Counselors. The creation of a completely new department required the development of invoicing records and processes, marketing materials, and training manuals. I hired, trained, and supervised 6-10 employees who would either develop jobs for people who experience disabilities, or provide on-site job coaching. I completed my Oregon Employment Learning Network (OELN) certificate and attended monthly Employment First meetings in three different counties. Show less

    • Payroll and Billing Specialist
      • Sep 2015 - Jun 2016

This job is where I developed my love of Microsoft Excel! I monitored time sheets for 150 employees, and entered all hours into the Oregon DHS database eXPRS. It was really important to track which employees were working which hours with which clients, as a measure of Medicaid fraud prevention. This required troubleshooting any time entry mistakes with both employees and clients. I compiled bimonthly payroll reports and billed Oregon DHS Disability Services (via CDDP's and Brokerages) as often as every week. Each client had a monthly total of hours to "spend" with employees, requiring very close tracking of all hours worked, as well as overtime and sick leave. Show less

I served as a bar tender for this neighborhood wine bar. With a rotating wine list of local and imported wines, I provided recommendations for customers based on their palette. Given the small size of the establishment, I also took food orders and washed dishes when needed. I also stocked and inventoried our bottles for sale, and opened and closed the store. This served as 1 of 3 simultaneous jobs, which I sadly had to say goodbye to when I was offered a salaried promotion at First Choice Assisted Care, which required oncall and travel. Show less

At Strictly Organic, I often began or ended my day with opening or closing of the store. I greeted customers and crafted custom coffee orders, operating the cash register and monitoring customer satisfaction. As with most restaurant jobs, there were many opportunities to sanitize and restock throughout each shift. I balanced the books at the end of each shift and prepared daily safe deposits. Cash register operation and end-of-day balancing, preparing daily safe deposits. As much as I loved the opportunity to brighten people's day with a cup of specialty coffee, this served as 1 of 3 simultaneous jobs, which became difficult to maintain after 6 months. After this job ended, I was still able to help my previous employer by filling in for the occasional shift. Show less
