Administration/Leisure Development Officer for a busy local community project in a regeneration area of SouthamptonWorking with a strict budget the Leisure Development Team provided the residents of Thornhill with a variety of sessions (cultural and activity/sports based) in a bid to encourage a healthier and more motivated leisure time. The project left a legacy of clubs and groups which were managed independently by the residents after the regeneration project had come to a close. Due to limited budgets, a large proporation of our time was spent writing bids for grants and local government funds to ensure each activity/club could continue into the future. We raised a large amount of extra funds, engaged with thousands of local residents and changed the way that many people spent their leisure time.
