People trust me to go into their homes while they are away, to feed and look after their cats, so there is a lot of trust put in me by the owners. People trust me to go into their homes while they are away, to feed and look after their cats, so there is a lot of trust put in me by the owners.

Retail Sales Assistant
-
Sep 2020 - Apr 2022
I currently work at Next as a sales assistant, where I tend to customers needs such as collecting their parcels, processing sales and returns and helping them when they are having trouble finding what they need. This role has helped me to excel when working under pressure, as well as improving my customer service skills, as I help many people throughout the day. Team communication is key in this role as when it becomes busy, staff need to know where they are needed most, in order to successfully complete all tasks, without making customers wait unnecessarily.

Animal carer
-
Sep 2020 - Apr 2022
I have been in this voluntary position for over a year now and have loved every minute of it. I have learned a great deal about conservation as well as gathering in depth knowledge about different species of animals and how we can help to protect them in their natural habitats. This position has been invaluable to me as I have become far more confident in my skills and how best to use different techniques when working with animals. Stablehand
-
Jan 2014 - Jan 2016
I worked as a stablehand for around 2 years. During this role I learnt an infinite amount about animals, which in turn allowed me to recognise subtle signs of what the horses want or need, as well as understanding their temperament, which helped when working with a nervous horse who potentially needed extra encouragement. During this time, I observed one of the younger foals chattering their teeth toward a dominant female. I noted this as I had recently watched a documentary which had shown young monkeys chattering their teeth toward dominant members of the group, as a sign of honouring their dominance over them, meaning they were accepted into the group. By linking the two together, it sparked an interest in me to learn more about the way animals communicate with each other and the natural world.
