Charlotte joined us in our opening year as a Lead Practitioner Designate in our start-up school. She has led the curriculum design and personal development offer for our KS3 including qualifying as a cycle safety instructor, organising our sports days and our inaugural ski trip. Charlotte is passionate about mental health and wellbeing - she has led our staff wellbeing strategy and contributed to our mindfulness programmes. Charlotte has also qualified as a Thrive Practitioner and contributes to our Inner Curriculum/ Nurture interventions. She joined our local governing body in our first year as our staff rep and she challenged the school's leaders on how to support our staff's workload and wellbeing. This exposure and experience developed her leadership skills which led to her joining us as a part-time Assistant Headteacher in our 2nd year. She has worked alongside another part-time SLT member to manage the pastoral needs of one of our faculties. This has included monitoring attendance and behaviour/ contributing to our safeguarding team as a a DDSL. Charlotted is a dedicated teacher and leader.

    • Lead Practitioner Designate for PE
      • Sep 2017 - Sep 2019

Lead Practitioner Designate - PE:Aureus School, Didcot, Oxfordshire(September 2017 – Present)As part of my role as Lead Practitioner Designate it has been my responsibility to create, build and run the PE department, as Aureus opened its doors in 2017. My main focus of enquiry has been into resilience. Being in a unique position, as a new Secondary School, it was identified that as a small cohort of students initially, they needed to learn more about, be able to fail safely and build traits of resilience in order for them to be successful life long learners.Mental Health and Wellbeing are my passion, as I feel that in order for teaching and learning to happen successfully, and for student progress to take place all stakeholders need to happy and well in their environments. This Lead Practitioner project has allowed me the opportunity to lead on staff wellbeing, and be heavily involved in creating Aureus School culture. I have been privileged to develop staff within Aureus School and externally to other practitioners to develop understanding of Mental Health and Wellbeing and how this can have an impact on progress. To also develop on how to engage students that have strong emotions. To aid this further, I have written blogs and had two published articles in relation to wellbeing. Further to this, I am a THRIVE practitioner, and Mental Health First Aider. I am experienced in mindfulness and Mental Health and Wellbeing interventions. I am involved with projects such as the bridging project and Oxon Mental Health in Schools project. For me, the area of Mental Health and Wellbeing goes hand in hand with teaching and learning. Without staff that are well, motivated and happy in their work will not produce good quality and engaging lessons. This philosophy can also be mirrored to students, as when they cannot regulate and manage emotions, they maybe experiencing, they are incapable of learning effectively. Show less

    • Lead for Staff Wellbeing
      • Sep 2017 - Sep 2019

Lead of Staff Wellbeing:Aureus School, Didcot, Oxfordshire(September 2017 – Present)As lead of staff wellbeing at Aureus School we are striving to create a workplace culture where all staff feel trusted and valued. We want to retain staff and improve productivity by putting staff at the heart of the workforce, analysing what staff think and feel and identifying the real issues that need to be addressed. We want to improve employee wellbeing in order to improve performance and productivity. I consider these by staff surveys and analysing data to report back to the Schools Strategic Board. I have also presented this in order to make changes to staff’s workload and improve staffs wellbeing at work. Show less

    • Head of House/ Specialist Teacher of PE
      • Sep 2009 - Aug 2017

Head of House/ Specialist Teacher of Physical Education: (September 2009 – August 2017) At King Alfred's I was a specialist Teacher of Physical Education. My specialism is swimming where I am level 2 qualified. I have a real passion for all children to learn to swim as it is a life saving skill. All children should be able to swim the required 25m; set by the government, by the time they attend secondary school. Further to this, I have also had experience of teaching across all key stages teaching from primary school years to GCSE PE, BTEC Dance, BTEC Sport and BTEC Health and Social Care through level 2 and level 3 courses. I have lead on staff wellbeing along side the academies Assistant Head Teachers. I am very proud that the word wellbeing had been used among bulletins, Head of Faculty meetings, insets and CT meetings frequently and became an area staff became more aware they needed to be in tune with. My philosophy towards improving wellbeing is that teachers are our best asset in order for students to leave education as complete well rounded human beings. I also had the role of Head of House where I would assist in the running of the School site. I would also lead staff briefings once a week before school, meet with the House tutors and site staff once a term. I was responsible for planning and running a weekly assembly. I oversaw tutor time and the PSHE that took place. I was responsible for the whole House budget. I worked with a team of students to implement House sports and events throughout the year. I lead transition days, with the focus on students becoming familiar with the new site they would be moving on to. Show less
